Hello! My name is Katie Dean, I’m 35 from London England. A place that has inspired me for many years and continues to without fail. Everyday gives something new. I love photography and this city has all you need to take a great capture, the street setting is always on point.
I have been creating art since I was 15 years old. Over the years I have developed my skills and now specialise in fine line art, exploring different patterns and colours to create something unique every time.
My artwork is available to buy online, and I also accept commissions for bespoke art pieces – let me know what you have in mind and we will work together to bring it to life.
Take a look at my gallery to see examples of my work, or visit the online store to purchase my available artworks.
When I try to find the right things to say, I’m lost for words. Seems like a strange position to be in, considering with such personal work, it’s easy to let doubts creep in when you aren’t in the most creative states when stress appears now and again.
The work of an artist never finished there’s constant room for improvement and along the years developing my craft not every piece produced will be good enough. I think it’s important to remember that making art is a process and it never finishes.
There’s no better cure for a creative rut than breaking out your comfort zone. I just take moments to find that living and working in London, inspiration is all around me – and it’s incredible.
Bridget Riley gave me art, and inspired my use of colour and to not being scared to try new things. Going to the Tate modern for me was like going on holiday as teenager; seeing her work was so mind-blowing and powerful that I wanted to find out more about her life and work.
The technical side of the art is different but that makes it fun. I challenged myself at school to develop my art and always kept it to myself. Art and design took me into a world of stillness and calm. Art galleries took me to another world. Sketchbooks came alive.
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.
Just thinking about my work makes me smile. And I hope that I can spread it to many as I don’t want to hide it anymore. I can now recognise it and would love to grow.
Balance is the key and the strength, drawing sessions are vital for detail and takes time and it brings restoring energy and light.
